In recent years, Giacomo Ganzerli has dedicated a lot of time to studying electronics, using drum machines, loops, and electronic pads. He has recently created his personal project, the “Giacomo Ganzerli Trio,” which incorporates drums, drum machines, sequencers, saxophone, and guitar. His first album as a bandleader, entirely composed of original tracks, will be released in 2025.

This trio is currently his most recent project, but it still retains a strong electronic component, as seen in his previous works. The lineup consists of Daniele Nasi on tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, and live effects, and Michele Bonifati on guitar.

The bassless formation features several moments of free improvisation, as well as equally rhythmic tracks inspired by modern jazz. The project draws on the melodic sounds of Jacob Bro, while absorbing strong spontaneous and electronic elements influenced by trumpeter Harve Henriksen. Also inspired by composers and sound designers like Ben Frost, the trio blends melodies and harmonies with electronic textures, presenting a modern and refined sound.
